What Supported Employment Looks Like at Workpower

Supported employment at Workpower combines paid employment with tailored workplace coaching. You build skills, confidence, and independence while contributing to high‑quality services that benefit local businesses and communities. You can expect:

  • Real employment across industries like packaging and warehousing, environmental services, native plant nurseries, timber manufacturing, textiles, recycling, reuse shops, administration, and fire services.

  • Individual support from experienced Support Coaches who understand your goals and how you like to learn.

  • Skill development in teamwork, communication, problem‑solving, safety, and job‑specific tasks.

  • Progression pathways to new roles, micro‑enterprise, or open employment in the community.

  • A positive workplace culture where you are respected, included, and recognised for your contribution.

How Supported Employment Works Financially

NDIS funding does not cover a customer's paid wage. Workpower pays employees instead.

An independent supported wage assessor will complete a Supported Wage Assessment between 13 weeks and 26 weeks of employment to assess our supported employees' wages.

This process assesses your productivity by observing you performing tasks in your workplace with set performance criteria and benchmarks.

The Supported Wage Assessment will determine your productivity as a percentage.

Those who require consistent support throughout the day to undertake their work and non-work tasks are eligible for Support Employment. Each year, we review employee's wages through a review, and employees can request an interim review if they feel their situation has changed.

How we work with you

Throughout our three-step process, we:

PLAN YOUR SUPPORTS

Based on your goals, we will work with you and your support network to develop a program that breaks your goals into small, achievable steps. We then put together a plan to work together to achieve these, one step at a time.

ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS

We build on each step of the plan to achieve your goals and ensure you always have a choice and control over your supports. Once you have achieved your goal, we look to the next one while maintaining the skills and confidence you have developed.
