Workpower Presents: Magnificent Michael!

There’s no job too challenging for Magnificent Michael!
Michael is a Kiosk Assistant at our Malaga Packaging and Warehousing site.
For 16 years, he has been taking on new roles at Workpower, weaving his talents into every new task he tackles.
His journey with Workpower began after school. He started at Osborne Park for work experience. Michael then found his way to our Malaga Packaging and Warehousing team.
But now, a new chapter unfolds as he takes on a new role at the "Yum Yum Cafe," a kiosk where supported employees like Michael harness their powers to create delicious food and serve up smiles with every order.
The Kiosk opened in September 2023, as Malaga’s Manager, Binoj explained, “The plan was to start something new at the Malaga site, we thought we should introduce a Kiosk for the Supported Employees to learn new skills such as Customer service, counting money, using the till and culinary skills.”
“There’s about 4 or 5 of us that work in the Café. I’ve learnt how to use the till, and I’ve learnt about customer service. I enjoy helping out.” Michael said.
Michael’s versatility knows no bounds. When he’s not at the cafe, he can be found unleashing his mechanical mastery on the machines around the site, packaging goods with his team, and swooping in to save the day with his handy fixes!
“I’m good at doing contracts and fixing the machines if they block up. I’m good at talking to people too.”
But Michael's greatest superpower lies in the friendships he's formed over the years. With his teammates and friends feeling more like family, Michael stands as a pillar of support and camaraderie. He serves as the perfect face behind the counter at the kiosk and has no plans of leaving Malaga anytime soon.
Michael offers a simple piece of advice for those considering joining the team; “Give it a go, go for it! I appreciate the different jobs I get to do!”
