Workpower & City of South Perth Launch Como Reuse Shop
We are thrilled to announce the opening of our newest Reuse Shop, launched in partnership with the City of South Perth on 20 August 2025.
Located at the City’s Recycling Centre in Como, this new store marks our fifth Reuse Shop, expanding our mission to create meaningful employment for people with disability while giving pre-loved goods a second chance.
Workpower CEO Lee Broomhall said the organisation was incredibly excited to open the new store.
“Our reuse shops provide a hub of opportunity for people with disability. It’s where our employees can develop valuable retail skills in a supportive environment, and where the community can take simple, meaningful action – supporting inclusive employment, reducing waste, and contributing to a more sustainable future,” she said.
The Reuse Shop is a key part of the community's move towards a circular economy. Good quality items donated by local residents are carefully prepared for sale by our team, providing valuable on-the-job experience and skill development.
Every dollar generated is reinvested directly into creating more jobs, training programs, and vital support for people with disability, helping them build skills and confidence for their future.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to smarter, more sustainable waste management in our community.
City of South Perth Mayor Greg Milner said the initiative offered a sustainable solution for the community.
“By supporting this initiative, residents are not only helping to protect the environment but also contributing to a community where everyone can benefit; from people living with disabilities gaining meaningful employment to shoppers finding affordable, quality goods,” he said.
From furniture and homewares to sporting equipment and unique collectables, there will be plenty for thrifty shoppers and treasure hunters to discover. Come and find a bargain while making a real difference!
